Strengthen Ocean Knowledge
As the regional subsidiary body of IOC/UNESCO for the Western Pacific, WESTPAC coordinates, mobilizes, and promotes the participation of Member States and relevant scientific communities from the region in global discussions related to ocean, contributing to the generation of the latest knowledge and practical solutions to global ocean issues.
Meanwhile, the Sub-Commission enables Member States in the region to work together to develop and strengthen knowledge, delivers knowledge services, and enhances required capacity for the sustainable development of our ocean, coasts and seas in the region.
