8 June has been designated in 2008 by the United Nations as World Oceans Day. On June 8th, a number of celebrations have been held around the world to raise the public awareness on oceans, its importance in our lives, and how we can protect it.
The 2014 theme is “Together we have the power to protect the ocean!”
On this occasion, several women scientists and young scientists in the Western Pacific shared their insights on the importance of marine scientific research, and marine science cooperation in the protection of our oceans.
