In partnership with a wide range of ocean stakeholders in the region and beyond, the WESTPAC Office administers, develops, coordinates and implements the programmes and activities of the Sub-Commission, and also engages in the UN system-wide actions towards the achievement of sustainable development.

In 2022, the Office was entrusted to assume the function of UN Ocean Decade Coordination Office (DCO) for the region, responsible for coordinating Decade Actions across all Ocean Decade Challenges in the Western Pacific region and its adjacent areas.
